In Ps. 119:11 King David states, “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”

When we engrain God’s word into our hearts and minds, it becomes an important part of who and what we are. It helps us to develop the lens through which we evaluate and act on life’s situations. Internalizing God’s word helps us to readily identify sin for the purpose of avoiding it.

I have started the posting of a weekly focus scripture (see below) for the purpose of helping us commit key scriptural principles to heart. Each scripture is not meant to be merely a memory scripture, but also a point of focused study and exploration throughout the week. If we take the time to study into these scriptures, we will tend to think and meditate on them throughout the day. We will more readily see the areas in our lives where these principles and standards must be applied.

As God’s people, we need to be about hiding God’s word in our hearts as well.
